Chinese Font problem

Postby XiaoShan » Wed Aug 23, 2006 5:54 pm

Hi all.

I recently bought a USB Handpad that enables me to write Chinese characters on my computer.

The problem is that although I have installed Chinese language on my computer, and have all my menus and dialogs in Chinese, the installation CD's setup is written in a font that my computer presumably cannot read, because instead of Chinese characters, characters such as ÄºÎ°Ë etc are displayed. Now, when I use the pad, these characters are the ones that pop up as well, despite the fact that I write Chinese characters. For instance, now I will write "ni hao, ni zuo tian zuo shen me?" : ĺ³Ä×·×ÊÃ?

I presume this means that my computer has not installed the font used by this software. Is there anyone out there who has experienced something similar? Does anyone know which font I need?

PS. This is my second pad. The first one worked without any problems. Then if I wrote the above sentence it would look like this: 你好,你昨天做什么? (This was written using pinyin, not the pad, obviously).

I assume you are using Microsoft Windows.
Try setting your language page for non-Unicode programs to either Chinese (Taiwan) or Chinese (PRC) (depending on the locale of your USB pad program).
Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced.
