Postby panther0890 » Thu Dec 21, 2006 4:13 am

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can translate a word in my name from simplified to traditional. The character is made up with fire and mountain next to eachother. It is pronounced chan' . I heard it was a very difficult character. My whole name is pronounced chan' wen in cantonese. thanks

Hi. I'm not sure how to input chinese character but this site will show you the traditional form of the character (just click the link) http://chineselanguage.org/cgi-bin/view ... oding=text

If you want to translate a lot of the simplified characters just learn the radicals or "bu shou" of the simplified character and you can look them up online.

In Simplified Chinese = 灿
In Traditional Chinese = 燦

That's my grandfather's name as well :)
