Postby slyio76 » Thu Jan 17, 2008 8:29 am

Hi,

I'm going to deliver a baby girl soon and have chosen a name for her. However, we do not know how to convert from Chinese name to Hakka name for her. Greatly appreciate if someone can help us. Thanks a lot in advance!

Chinese Name: 叶语馨 (yè yǔ xīn)
Hakka Name: Yap ? ?

Hi,

Someone told me that the Hakka translation for my baby name is Yap Yu Hin.

Is this correct? Coz it sounds like Cantonese to me.
Please advise... Thanks in advance!

It's both

In Cantonese: Yip Yu Hing (in jyutping romanisation: Jip Jyu Hing)

In Hakka: Yap Ngi Hin (in jyutping romanisation: Jap Ngi Hin)
